Opportunity Chancenkarte

In Germany, the coalition government is planning to introduce an immigration system called "Chancenkarte" for individuals from non-EU countries to migrate for job-seeking purposes, in addition to the existing labor market immigration options. During this period, the person must be able to support their own livelihood. A regulation can define a quota for a certain number of Chancenkarten.

The Chancenkarte is initially valid for one year and can be extended for another year when the person has an employment contract or a qualified job offer. Those who hold a recognized diploma in Germany immediately fulfill the requirements for a Chancenkarte. Similarly, individuals with a two-year vocational training or a recognized university diploma in their home country can also apply for a Chancenkarte. Applicants must prove basic knowledge of the German language (A1) and obtain six points according to a specific system. These points are given based on language proficiency, professional experience, age, and "connection to Germany" criteria:

• A foreign professional diploma recognized according to German standards, even if additional qualification is required, receives four points.
  
  
• Those with at least five years of professional experience or "good German language skills" receive three points.
  
  
• For "sufficient German language skills" at B1 level, two years of professional experience, and individuals under 35 years of age, two points are given.
  
  
• "Sufficient German language skills", previous residence in Germany (at least six months in the past five years),
  ages between 35 and 40,
  C1 level English proficiency,
  eligibility for Engpassberuf (occupations with qualified labor shortage),
  and fulfillment of Chancenkarte criteria by the spouse are rewarded with one point.
